Excimer Laser - Kolan British Hospital

Excimer Laser is an advanced technology that uses ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 193 nm to “reshape” cornea, thereby correcting such defects as myopia, hypermetropia and astigmatism. Excimer laser device is capable of reshaping corneal tissue by using ultraviolet light at a wavelength of 193 nm with a precision of 0.25 microns. Scientific studies have shown that LASIK method is safe up to -12 diopters in treatment of myopia and up to +6 diopters in treatment of hypermetropia, and lastly up to 6 diopters in treatment of astigmatism. Nevertheless maximum extent of refractive error varies depending on each person’s ocular structure.
