Bone-Conduction Implant System (Bone Bridgetm)

Transcutaneous technology used in cochlear implants and middle ear implants can now be used also for bone conduction stimulation. The implant having a vibration-transmitting transponder is implanted subcutaneously. Implant directly stimulates inner ear without using external ear or middle ear. As hearing help is provided by other ear as well through bone conduction by direct stimulation, audiologically excellent results are obtained.

It is an aesthetically attractive solution. As implant is entirely below the skin, it is not visible outside. Sound processor is a rather small part which is installed under hair and may be used invisibly.

How is it installed?

Bone-conduction implants are installed under general anesthesia, and operation takes approximately 45 minutes. Patient is generally hospitalized for one night. Dressing is applied every other day for one week. Operation site fully recovers within one week.

Results

As hearing help is provided by other ear as well through bone conduction by direct stimulation, far better results are obtained as regards conventional hearing instruments.

I together with my team, am applying bone-conduction implant in our Clinic.
