Electrocauterization - Kolan British Hospital

Electrocauterization

Electrocauterization is based on the burning and destroying of bulky lesions on the skin by using the electricity as source of heating. In earliest types hereof, it was simply used as cauterization. Now, it is performed as electrocoagulation (cessation of bleeding) and electrodessication (excision) operations by means of a bipolar direct current device.

It is used with the same principles in many skin disorders causing blisters such as warts, seborrheic keratosis and pyogenic granuloma.
