Diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmia are planned in this department. ECG recording at the moment of cardiac arrhythmia is required for diagnosis thereof. To this end, Rhythm Holter, devices called event recorders are utilized. Tilt table test used in detecting the cause of fainting is also performed in arrhythmia policlinic. Follow-up and battery controls of patients with pacemakers are also performed in this department.
There are different types of arrhythmias leading to tachycardia. These impairments result from electrical abnormalities in different regions of the heart. Tissues that should not normally be present at the heart are responsible for abnormal electricity. These tissues are located and destroyed by the wires called catheter pushed up from the groin veins to the heart just as in coronary angiography. This procedure is called catheter ablation. Radiofrequency and cooling system are utilized to remove the abnormal tissue. Performance of catheter ablation requires electrophysiology device. It is procedure necessitating one night hospital stay for patient’s follow-up. It is performed under local anesthesia. This procedure is performed with almost 100% success rate.
